To the Chinese, 2007 was the year of the boar, but for us it was the "Year of the Dog".
Six straight weeks of blizzards at the beginning of 2007 made us a little stir crazy. After being cooped up for way too long and probably even a little lightheaded from hours spent scooping the driveway, we decided it to get a dog. To say we had no idea what we were getting into would be an understatement. And, as if a puppy wasn't enough, we also registered for the Denver Half Marathon.
I'd say both the dog and the race turned out pretty well. We finished the half marathon in our goal time of two hours and Maya can sit, park it (lay down), come when called (if she feels like it) and settle. She can also steal socks, bricks of cheese, soap, picture frames, slippers, rugs, shoes, pillows, spatulas, books, magazines, toilet paper, shampoo bottles....and turn her head and run just perfectly so there is not a chance you can catch her! Yes, it's fair to say, Maya is the master of canine crimes, but she's given us lots of laughs and taught us to slow down and play.
Other 2007 hightlights:
- Katie and Kelli's wedding
- Roadtrip to Boise
- Vegas for Matthew
- John and Julie visiting Denver
- Danny moving to Denver!
- Annie Haraguchi
- Aspen
- Costa Rica (another post on this to come soon)
- Girls weekend in Denver
Some of you may be shocked, but we're thinking about doing another half marathon. Maya just turned a year and is ready to be the ultimate training partner. We're also hoping to hit the road and visit our friends around the country. Perhaps most importantly to all of you out in the blogosphere, we plan to post more regularly...
Stay tuned and happy New Year!
Lisa, Matthew and Maya
